As well as the region’s well-established vineyards, an increasing number of olive groves are to be found tucked in among these valleys and villages.  The Matakana Olive Co-operative has been set up by local olive growers in order to collectively produce and market Extra Virgin Olive Oil of the very highest quality.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil is an entirely natural product which, like fine wine, reflects both the region that it comes from and the olive cultivars that are used.

The Matakana Olive Co-operative produces three blends of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, each with its own distinctive character – why not try all three?

·         Matakana Market blend is an intense oil with a distinctive peppery kick.  This blend is ideal for dipping, or drizzling over antipasti.

·         Matakana Coast blend is an aromatic, fruity oil with some bite.  Great for dressing salads or steamed vegetables, or tossing through freshly-cooked pasta.

·         Matakana Valley blend is a sweeter, delicate blend.  A good all-purpose oil, perfect for more delicate foods like grilled fish.

Our oil is exclusively marketed under the Matakana Coast Wine Country brand.  It can be purchased directly from the co-operative, and is also available from specialist food outlets and many of the B&B’s in the Matakana Coast Wine Country region.
